Derby Church Net hits 10 and 100!
Derby Church Net reached 10 years old in 2010, having launched their website in January 2000, and the March issue of Derbyshire Church Network magazine that year was number 100. The work continues to grow, and they are now producing around 2000 copies with new congregations and readers to the magazine being welcomed on a regular basis. Tim Gossling, the editor, writes,
A challenge
Since the early days, we have sought to bring the news to as many people as possible right across the Church, and one of the principles that have enabled this has been making as many of the resources as possible available for free, especially the magazine.
But there are costs involved in producing it (about 50p per copy, inc. printing, staff, distribution, business costs etc). We are grateful to our sponsors and advertisers who help bring the news to you each month.
At this anniversary time, we find ourselves at a crossroads in the finance: one of our major sources of income has come to an end. We try not to push the financial side too much, but for the magazine to continue, we need more sponsorship.
You, your congregation, local Churches Together/denominational group or other organisation can help in a number of ways, not least through Regular sponsorship or one off donations. The best method is a regular gift by standing order, but whatever you can afford will be gratefully received.
It costs about £5 per month to give 10 copies to a church. If you can give more, it will help others who can’t afford it to stay connected.
Why not place an advert? If you have something you want to tell everyone about, an advert with us can be far more cost effective and beneficial than printing leaflets that often simply gather dust on a church table.
And please pray for us! We look to God for the future, and trust that He will provide. Whether things will carry on in the same form as before, or whether there is a new way of connecting Christians across Derbyshire just around the corner, the goal remains unity across all expressions of the Body of Christ.
