The Council of Churches Together in Derbyshire draws together church leaders and representatives of many denominations and of the various examples of ecumenical work across the county for discussion, decision, inspiration and information.
Evening meetings take place three times a year, and at various venues to enable people from the north, the middle and the south of the county to attend more easily.
Each member denomination is invited to send not only its ecumenical officer but also up to three other representatives of their tradition.
Representatives of subscribing local “Churches Together” groups and Local Ecumenical Partnerships are also welcome, as are representatives of locally active agencies such as Christian Aid and CAFOD.
As well as dealing with any necessary business, our meetings enable Christians from these many traditions to meet in discussion and discovery of each others’ treasures, sharing news and ideas, initiating projects, and planning to be more effective in our life and mission as we work more closely together.
The Annual General Meeting takes place in the early autumn.
This is the Executive of Churches Together in Derbyshire. It is chaired for a year at a time by one of the regional Church Leaders or their nominee. In addition to the Chair, the Secretary and the Treasurer, other members are the ecumenical officers from each sponsoring denomination.
It meets three time a year in advance of Council meetings.
Chair (2011 - 2012): The Revd Loraine Mellor, Chair of the Nottingham & Derby Methodist District
